The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong (YA)

The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong

Blurb from Kelley Armstrong's website:
You know the big problem with a trilogy? After the first book, it gets really hard to describe the next one without giving away serious spoilers for book one. If you’ve read The Summoning, read the below description of The Awakening. If you haven’t read The Summoning, don’t do it!

If you had met me a few weeks ago, you probably would have described me as an average teenage girl—someone normal. Now my life has changed forever and I’m as far away from normal as it gets. I’m a living science experiment—not only can I see ghosts, but I can raise the dead without even trying. Trust me, that is not a power you want to have. Ever. I’m running for my life with three of my supernatural friends and we have to find someone who can help us gain our freedom back before the Edison Group finds us first. Or die trying.

The Awakening (Darkest Powers)

This is a great second novel in the trilogy. It's just a continuation of the original story. Again, if you're going to read this trilogy, just think of it as one long story broken up into 3 books. If you just pick up this book, it won't make a whole lot of sense as a stand alone book. As for the book itself, this one had more action in it then the first book and it's still full of teen angst with a little flirting going on . Basically at this point in the story, the kids are on the run and most of this book is them running from the Edison group. This book explains more of the kids background and who the Edison group is. It also explains more of the supernaturals. Definitely a great middle book in the trilogy. I'm still recommending it if you're wanting a YA read.

4 out of 5 books
