Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala
Gin, the god of magic, is nineteen and resides in an orphanage on Earth. His roommate is Anubis. Medusa and Aphrodite are roommates across the street in the orphanage for girls. It is unsure as to why they are there. A strange girl named Kitty walks into the orphanage and demands to stay. She ends up in the room with Medusa and Aphrodite. Things immediately get weird when Eris and Set show up. Eris is searching for Anubis, wanting his bracelet. Set is looking for revenge against Gin. The two are working together, kind of, to get what they both want.
Set has decided to use Kitty to get his revenge. It is obvious that Gin seems to have feelings for her. Eris has her own plan taking hair from the pillows of Gin, Anubis and Kitty. Eris is surprised to find Kitty is someone important and she needs her and Gin to complete her plan.
This book was difficult for me to read. The writing was very choppy. I felt like the author was extremely young or English wasn’t their first language. The story jumped around too much. The conversations between the characters at times didn’t make sense. In fact the characters just came across as annoying. Kitty was the heroine, I think. This story could have been developed into a great tale. Honestly it could use a lot of work. It almost feels like the author hurriedly threw it together. The story, itself, was an interesting idea. It just wasn’t executed well. The writing was the true downfall. I give it a 2 out of 5.
