Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala

Marcus is on the island to find Camilla, his mate. It was supposed to be easy but he gets caught up in Tensia’s web thanks to that ego of his. She goes after Cami and tries to keep him locked up for her own twisted game. He has to find a way off the island with his woman in tow.

Unfortunately things don’t go as planned and he drags his partner Jason into it all. His plane gets blown up and Cami gets captured. They barely escape with their lives and crisscross hopping planes to cover their tracks. They make it safely to Las Vegas.

Marcus is determined to bond with Cami. She has been saving herself for marriage and after a night of nervous drinking, she finds herself married to Marcus. After her anger subsides from her fairytale being dashed, things get weird. A woman appears and falls at Marcus’ feet exhausted asking for help. While Marcus helps Dawn, Cami disappears. Marcus finds her is a seedy bar dancing on stage like a stripper. She has been possessed by darkness. Marcus is determined to find out what is going on. It turns out that Cami’s powers make her a purifier where she absorbs the darkness from others. Marcus is forced to watch and even help her through her dark Cami times.

The woman who fell at his feet, Dawn, is someone that they have been searching for. Unfortunately she brings a dark demon to their door. Shayde is her soulmate and Stephen’s father. He is after both Dawn and Stephen to further his power and his legacy. Shayde is someone that Marcus and his family need to protect Stephen from. They know that the fight has just begun.

This is the second book of the series. I did not read the first book and I would recommend doing so. I think I would have understood more of the story if I had. The backstory of members of Marcus’ adopted family would have explained the fallen angel idea more to me. So definitely read the first book.

The storyline is an interesting one. I like the idea of characters who are fallen angels with powers fighting their own darkness. They search for their soulmates which will strengthen their powers and awaken their soulmates powers. Shayde embraced his darkness and became evil devouring humans.

However the main characters of this story, Marcus and Camilla, were a bit annoying to me, especially Camilla. Her innocence was a bit unbelievable for me. I couldn’t picture how naïve she came across. In fact it annoyed me in her reactions to things. Marcus seemed to be obsessed with sex and the sex scenes basically took over the storyline. In fact it tended to get in the way, in my opinion. I like good sex scenes in a story but I don’t want them to overwhelm what else is going on and I felt in this case they did. I give this book a 3 out of 5.
