He’s the most dangerous man she’s ever met…and she’s falling in love with him.
Madison Frost is desperate to escape her life. Daughter of a prominent businessman, she has everything a girl could ask for. Except for a family who’s present in her life, and anyone to talk to outside the four walls of the prison she calls home. Madison dreams of one day leaving her life behind. She never thought being kidnapped is how it would happen.
Now she’s being held captive by a man who’s as frightening as he is sinfully gorgeous. Enormous, muscular, and filled with secrets, the man they call Ghost is an enigmatic mercenary, and Madison is trapped with him. She doesn’t know who hired him or why, but the more time she spends at his mercy, the more she realizes he’s not what he seems. Beneath his rough exterior lies an unexpected gentleness and a heart as broken and battered as her own.
But as Madison lets down her walls, Ghost holds tight to his, hiding secrets that could destroy everything.

Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala
Madison finds her mother collapsed on the bathroom floor one morning. She has been taking care of her for years. Her mother has been using alcohol and prescription drugs to keep herself numb. Her father is never home and always working. The care and shame of her mother has fallen to Madison’s shoulders. Her life is isolated and lonely. Her mother’s additions are hidden. Madison doesn’t really have her parents or any friends. She goes to college close to home because she feels guilty if she left.
One night after her study group she was walking toward the car and driver that always waited for her. Before she got to the car, a man stepped behind her and knocked her out. She woke up in a cabin in the middle of nowhere. Her captor, Ghost, scared her to death. He wouldn’t tell her anything. She decided that her only chance was to escape.
Ghost thinks his captive is a rich, spoiled princess that is scared as a mouse. He uses intimidation to keep her like that. Once she attempts an escape she sparks his anger but also some respect. He takes control of the situation again. They are forced to spend time in each other’s constant company. Ghost realizes he underestimated Madison’s strength. He also learned the truth about her family. Once this job was over neither of them would be the same.
I liked this book a lot. I wasn’t sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. I liked Madison’s character as the plot evolved. She grew stronger and started taking control of what she wanted. I was shocked at what she had to endure in her regular life.
Ghost was the best thing that happened to her, a criminal with a heart. He forced her to look at herself differently. He was attracted to her when she wasn’t a petite, perfect woman. I truly liked that aspect of the characters. It was a positive spin.
There wasn’t too much violence which was a surprise. I figured with a kidnapping there may be some type of violent encounters. Ghost, or Gage, worked hard at keeping her safe. Totally sigh worthy behavior from the classic bad boy. The ending was mixed for me at first. I love that Maddie took charge of her life but she had a lot of baggage to work through. So did Gage. It was a journey of personal discovery and betterment of themselves. Great read that I give a 5 out of 5.
