Fairy Tale Survival Rule #32: If you find yourself at the mercy of a wicked witch, sing a romantic ballad and wait for your Prince Charming to save the day.
Yeah, no thanks. Dorthea is completely princed out. Sure being the crown princess of Emerald has its perks—like Glenda Original ball gowns and Hans Christian Louboutin heels. But a forced marriage to the brooding prince Kato is so not what Dorthea had in mind for her enchanted future.
Talk about unhappily ever after.
Trying to fix her prince problem by wishing on a (cursed) star royally backfires, leaving the kingdom in chaos and her parents stuck in some place called "Kansas." Now it's up to Dorthea and her pixed off prince to find the mysterious Wizard of Oz and undo the curse...before it releases the wickedest witch of all and spells The End for the world of Story.

Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala
Dorothea belongs to the cursed family of Emerald, a princess in the family cursed by two witches. However the wording was wrong and it is unsure which princess will be cursed with fire. So Dorothea is kept at home in the castle so she can’t damage anything in case she is the one that receives the curse.
On the night of the ball a questionable, young girl gives her a wishing star and Dorothea uses it to wreak havoc on the kingdoms when she finds out she is betrothed to Prince Kato without her consent. She is furious and wishes all rules of the kingdom disappear.
The young girl turns into a silver witch who takes over Emerald when Dorothea’s parents disappear. Dorothea flees with Rexi, a servant and Prince Kato in an altered form. The have to reach the other side of the rainbow to help make things right. The trip is vicarious and dangerous. The three have to work together no matter how they feel about each other to survive.
This YA tale included a mix of fairy-tales, but a lot of Wizard of Oz characters were present. It was a fun spin. The author wrote a creative play on the tale with very interesting characters thrown in. Dorothea was definitely a spoiled brat in the beginning, however, she grew up as the story moved along.
When the three set off on the journey they didn’t really like each other. But by the end friendship had grown and they had all grown as people. They started following their hearts which saved them in the end. The ending definitely left the story wide open for more. So it will be interesting to see what trouble Dorothea gets herself into next and how her luck holds out.
I truly like the inner struggle with her powers that she experiences. It translates into real-life. I give this book a 4 out of 5 for its creativity and humor.
