Book Blurb
DAKOTA DANE IS ABOUT TO TELL A LIE SHE'LL WISH SHE HADN'T. Because her lie is dangerous, sexy, and just showed up on campus, angry as hell and looking for her...

Ugly duckling Dakota Dane has a new boyfriend. He’s male-model gorgeous, built to perfection, wealthy, and smart. He is also a lie. As in, 100% fabricated. Does it matter that Dakota has a perfectly good reason for making him up? Not really. Not when Dakota’s made-up boyfriend shows up in the flesh.

So is she crazy? All signs point to maybe. But the walking, talking enigma with the deadly vibe isn’t about to give her any answers or let her out of his sight. And with college just around the corner, Dakota fears her dreams of a bright future have just collided with a dark rabbit hole…
~~~
Fate.
Such a simple word, isn’t it? But there’s nothing simple about it. Not for me, anyway. Not when it comes to this man. I have no idea who the hell he is, where he came from, or what he wants, but his dangerous vibe tells me I should run away and never look back.
But I can’t.
Because as much as he scares the hell out of me, his sinfully dark gaze and what it does to me is ten times more powerful.
And I know I want something I shouldn’t. I should want my sanity. I should want college and parties and this dream I’ve waited for my whole life. I should want to keep that promise I made myself back in high school to make something of my life.
But now I’m looking at him, his powerful body, his predatory gaze, his sinfully shaped lips, and I know I’ll never be able to walk away. So I simply keep lying to myself about there being a reason for all this. I simply tell myself it must be fate.
Toot's Review by Stacy Sabala
Book 1
Dakota is a senior in high school and considers herself the loser at school. She spent spring break reinventing herself. Now she is determined to stand up for herself against her bullying nemesis and catch the attention of her crush.
However when her bully confronts and makes fun of her, Dakota lies about what she did over break. She then stoops to Janice’s level and creates a fake boyfriend. When she returns to school after the lie to face the music, she is completely shocked to see her fake boyfriend standing next to her best friend. Of course that is right before she is hit by a car.
Her life completely changes in that moment. She thinks she is going crazy. Her made up fake boyfriend is real and threatening her for silence. He claims he is keeping her safe and she can tell no one. She has no clue what is going on. Then a few days later he disappears.
Dakota is still reeling from what happened and is no closer to figuring out what is going on. She is happy to be moving on with her life. However she can’t get Santiago out of her head.
When she goes off to college in San Diego she is determined to start anew. No one knows her and she is determined to enjoy college, until Santiago shows up at a frat party. She is furious and confused. He is just as cryptic as always. She is instantly livid and fights him every step of the way until she realizes her life is in danger. Everything she thinks is real about her life comes crumbling around her as she learns secrets about what is really going on.
I love this author and I have read most of her books. She creates great characters and I love how she threads humor throughout the stories she writes. This story was more suspense and romance. Dakota has no clue what her father really does. In fact the reader is just as confused. You share the whole experience with Dakota, the confusion, the anger and the fear. The author did a great job weaving the story in such a way that as you read it you still aren’t sure what is really happening.
I also liked how Dakota started standing up for herself. It was great to watch her stand up to Janice. Things did get a bit weird after that. She was hit by the car and Santiago entered the story. I wasn’t sure what was going on. Your confusion meshes with Dakota’s as you are forced to feel exactly what she is. I liked how the author did that. You are having the same “what the….?” Moments along with the main character. The ending was awesome. Dakota had to make a choice and she made the right one. It was sweet. I give this book a 4 out of 5.
Missing: Hot Italian Bodyguard Last Seen Wearing Tux...
Dakota Dane's bodyguard is the sort of guy every man fears and every woman dreams of: chiseled abs, face of a male model, and tougher than nails. Except with her, of course. And those glimpses of Paolo's soft side are just as sinfully addictive as the rest of him.
So when he proposes to take their relationship to the next level--marriage--Dakota can't deny the thought of becoming his makes her pulse race and her knees go all wobbly. Unfortunately, when the big moment finally arrives, Paolo is nowhere to be found.
Was it something she said?
Dakota's heart won't move on until she finds out, but is she ready to face her dangerous world alone? Or will Dakota have to let go of everything she loves simply to survive?
NOTE: While reading book #1 (Fate Book) enhances the story, FATE BOOK TWO is a stand-alone story.
Book 2
The day finally arrived where Dakota was going to marry Paolo. Just as she was ready to walk down the aisle, she realized Paolo had disappeared. She believed that he was taken. She and her mother fled to safety while her dad went to find him. He came back revealing that Paolo was in Italy working for his mob family where he had been sharing information this whole time. He had been seen with a blond publicity queen.
Dakota is shocked and devastated. She decides she has had enough of her father and goes out on her own. She changes her mind last minute and flies to Rome. She needs answers and Paolo is the one to give them. She won’t be able to move on from here if she doesn’t. Her heart is broken.
Once she gets to Rome she comes face to face with Paolo’s family members, including his brother Felix. Dakota is confused and scared for Paolo. When the truth comes out she is shocked. Her life as she knows it comes to a screeching halt. She knows it is time to take it back.
This is the second book in the series. I liked Dakota’s character more in this book. She was a more take charge and strong female character. She was determined to find out the truth. When things ended the way they did, she refused to continue living her life the way she had been. She definitely evolved from the first book. The author also created a story that evolved with the same confusion for the reader. I was trying to figure out along with Dakota what was really going on. You would think one thing then something else would happen to cause doubts. I didn’t know what would happen next. In fact some of the situations that arose were surprising. I didn’t see them coming. I give this book a 4 out of 5.
